Library Café
As a top 40 university, Kent Uni is ambitious for its people, their communities and the region they serve. Kent Uni is proud of their community impact, hoping to bring people together to shape, celebrate and make the world a better place. The Library Café is the beating heart of the Templeman Library, where students of all courses converge to study and research.
Our objective was to provide high quality visuals to advertise their rotation of offers, seasonal drinks and delicious treats. With students popping by to grab a hot drink or sweet treat whilst studying, the images needed to be eye catching and visually pleasing.
Designing Appeal: Captivating Visuals for the Library Café
The existing Library Café branding was very simple with a limited colour palette and the KSU brand font, so we knew we needed to make the graphics eye-catching and add dimension to an otherwise very flat artwork. By adding textures and introducing a new typeface to our designs, for their new loyalty cards and posters – this helped bring the Library Café branding to life.
Using AI generated imagery for their offers and seasonal drinks, we were able to illustrate posters to create exciting imagery of the drinks/deals across a variety of digital and print assets. For the seasonal drinks we selected an elegant serif font to pair with our imagery. The graphics present the seasonal menu as a luxury choice for students across Kent Uni campus.
Beyond Aesthetics: The Impact of Design on Student Engagement
The refreshed and engaging designs for the Library Café are crafted to enhance the visual appeal of this central student hub. By elevating the adverts on display, we anticipate higher student awareness of the café offerings which will lead to more frequent visits. These changes aim to not only elevate the café’s atmosphere, but also encourage a stronger sense of community among students. Whilst the direct impact is on revenue, the design itself sets the stage for a vibrant café that supports both academic and social interactions. This project showcases how thoughtful design can potentially transform everyday spaces into essential parts of the university experience.
